About Oakland Furniture

OUR STORY
A long-standing local business with deep Maine roots.
Oakland Furniture has been part of downtown Oakland and the surrounding Central Maine community since 1999. Originally founded by Alan and Ammie Breton, the business grew from a small local store into a trusted place for furniture and mattresses—guided by a simple belief: treat people well, stand behind what you sell, and build trust that lasts. When the store moved to its current Main Street location in 2000, that approach stayed at the center of everything.
Today, Oakland Furniture continues under the leadership of Alan’s daughter, Kelly, who returned home after years of teaching to carry on the values her father lived by. “Nobody Does It Better” was never meant as a slogan—it was a standard. Kelly brings that same commitment to the our showroom in downtown Oakland every day, honoring what her father built while thoughtfully guiding the store into its next chapter.

Our Place in the Community
Oakland Furniture has always seen itself as part of the community, not separate from it. Over the years, the store has served generations of Maine families, supported local events, and built relationships that extend far beyond the showroom floor. That connection—and appreciation for the people of Central Maine—continues to guide how we operate today.
